X-treme sports.......for children?

I have used public transportation to get to and from work for the last 20 years.

For 9 of those years, it was my ONLY form of transportation.

Yes, I am aware it has some drawbacks

Statistically speaking, there’s about a 1/500 chance that either of your chutes won’t open properly. Assuming, then, that you’re using all of the appropriate safety gear (Including an AAD, or automatic activation device, which would automatically release your parachute at a given altitude should you suddenly decide to pass out and/or commit suicide on the way down), the probability of both chutes failing and turning your body into a lawn dart is about 1 in 250,000. (In actuality, the fatality rate for experienced skydivers is ~1/100,000 and for beginners 1/250,000, assuming an AAD is used)

By comparison, the fatality rate for football is 1/100,000. Considering that many years in the US hold ZERO beginner-level skydiving deaths, maybe you should reconsider how your kids are going to be spending their summer.

BTW I happily rock-climb, mountain-bike, and sky-dive on a regular basis, and I’m…wait, let me check…yep, just as I suspected, still very much alive.

i haven’t suggested the kids should play football. football, can be pretty extreme too.

to be completely fair, i will say that fatality for bodybuilding is probably higher (though i have no statistics) than your 1/250,000 for skydivers. this is because some substances that are being used by bodybuilders such as DNP or Insulin can easily kill you with a relatively minor overdose  but then, nobody takes DNP just for fun, people take it because its the strongest fat burner known.

sky-diving on the other hand, is just for fun.
