I need to replace the wireless network adapter for my Xbox 360. Can I use any Windows capable wireless adapter or does it have to be an Xbox 360 specific adapter?

you have to use an official 360 adapter. The 360 has only a small number of hardware drivers integrated to support Microsoft or officially licensed accessories. It’s not like a typical Windows PC where you can just install a driver to make things work.

Or you can just use two routers, plugged into the ethernet port and set up to talk to one another.
