OK, fine, I won’t talk about it anymore. But I think that someone who values the lives of feral cats over human beings, and publically states as much, is being a JERK of the highest order.

Well, I’ll address one thing and then I’ll shut up: recently, **Crafter\_Man** insinuated a poster on this board that her husband was stealing by using Medicaid to pay for her husband’s medicine, claiming that medication is a “luxury.” But apparently, he fails to mention that Terri Schiavo is also a Medicaid patient.

Hmmmm…

Either way, we’re not talking about Schiavo, although we CAN relate it to **Crafter\_Man** ’s repeated lack of compassion for anything and anyone.

Of course they would be. However, I never “publically stated” that feral cats are more valuable than human beings. But you just keep on believing what you want, snookums!

Do you believe:

A)Drowning cats is evil

B)Starving Terri to death is OK?

Yes or no will do.

Hey **milroyj**. Will you please:

A)Start a thread of your own so as to discontinue this hijack.
or
B)take it to one of the Schiavo threads?

Deliberately? Yes, I do believe it’s cruel and evil.

> [@](#):

> Yes or no will do.

Yes. Fortunately, that’s not what’s being done here. What they’re doing is removing a SURGICALLY IMPLANTED tube that provided her nutrients, because the courts have determined that is what she herself would have wanted. If it were up to me, a lethal dose of pain killers or what have you to end it quick would be better. Unfortunately, that’s not legal.

See, a better comparison would be: drowning cats in cages to taking Terri out and drowning her by pouring water down her throat.

Or, taking a cat to a vet and having the vet put the cat down by injection and removing life support. Again, the two situations are very different.

Now, if YOU want to debate how Terri is being treated vs. how we treat animals, feel free to start a new thread! I’d be more than happy to contribute! But I’m not talking about that-I’m pitting **Crafter\_Man** for animal cruelty and not caring about other peoples’ property simply because, well, it was an annoyance.

You may disagree, but I’m so freaking tired of EVERY debate being hijacked to talk about Terri fucking Schiavo. Again, start your own damned thread.

Nice try, but you are assuming facts that are not in evidence. Just like you assumed that a rat would have a disease. If you are going to assume that a wild rat has diseases, then you must also assume that a wild cat living in the same area would also have diseases.

I hate to further a hijack, but I can’t leave this one be.

Drowning a lucid cat with a functioning brain and awareness of the environment and its surroundings, capable of feeling pain, is evil.

Allowing a woman who has ceased to live in any real sense, with a dead cerebral cortex, who can feel pain nor any other emotion, to die via starvation is ok.

IMHO.

I completely agree with this pitting Guin… when I read the original thread, I was disgusted.

Feral cats stay away from people, rats get into houses and leave droppings. They are not the same thing simply because they both fall into the class of ‘wild animals’. And acting like they are doesn’t mean a thing.

As mentioned earlier, I shot Bambi last year during bow hunting season. She ran 2 miles with a bolt sticking out of her. She bled to death.

Question: Was I being cruel to Bambi? A yes or no answer will suffice quite nicely.

This whole thread constitutes a yes answer. What a fucking tool.

Sorry. Of course you may.

> In the interest of neighborhood tranquility, I need to terminate these cats surreptitiously. They often roam around my property, but not on much of a schedule. I’ve considered shooting them through an open window, but this would probably require that I lie in wait for quite some time, and might still attract attention. I’ve considered getting a trap, but this would have to be placed in such a way that it can’t be seen from the street (and thus raise suspicion). I might possibly set out food for long enough to get the cats coming, then lace it with some poison.

> [@](#):

(In answer to a question about taking it to the proper authorities)

All right, I withdraw my accusation of you being a sick fuck. I still disagree with you-these cats are only doing what comes naturally to them, and if they have owners, the owners are at fault. If they are strays, then you need to contact animal control, and/or trap the cats, and take them to the pound. I understand how you feel about the birds (it IS awful to see cats take down their prey, they’re very brutal about it), but the cats are not themselves at fault, nor are they doing it to be viscious or cruel, at least not on purpose.

**Crafter\_Man** , I don’t care about hunting. No, it’s not an ideal way for the deer to die, but then deer are acceptable as prey.

No, I think you’re a sick bastard for drowning your neighbor’s pets, rather than dropping them off at a vet’s or rescue center, if they bothered you that much.

I would also like to know why you can’t shoot the animal again to put it out of its misery. Because, see, my uncle and cousin are hunters, and they go bow hunting every year. One time I asked them what they did if they shot an animal in the leg or something and it didn’t die. They said they’d shoot it again, so it didn’t have to suffer. So no, letting an animal bleed to death over a long period of time isn’t something common to all bow hunters. It’s only common to this one sick fuck.

> [@](#):

> I couldn’t care less.

I can get that you don’t care about the animals. But you don’t care about the humans that may have owned those animals? Yeah, you’re a sociopath.

And you don’t have to drive animals across town to the shelter. Animal control will come pick them up for you. I’m sure they’d be even more anxious to make the pick up if they knew you planned to drown the animals. But I guess even picking up the phone is too much effort to expend for your fellow human beings (referring to the pet owners).

Did any of your neighbors ever come over and ask you if you’d seen their pet? No, probably not. Your house is probably the scary house that all the neighbors ignore. Every neighborhood has one.

Let’s see: You cruelly kill animals and you think sick people should just die already. Sick fuck? Check.

Um, **continuity eror** , I can also tell you’ve never been bow hunting.

[bow hunting 101]
When you shoot a deer with an arrow or bolt it usually _runs_ the second after it is hit. Follow up shots with a compound bow or crossbow are almost unheard of. After the deer runs you must _track_ it by following the blood trail. Once you find the deer, and if it is not dead, then an extra shot is definitely warranted.

For what it’s worth, I am an archer. I use traditional recurve bows, not composites designed for hunting. My bow is not particularly quiet, it does not yield fantastic feet per second, and despite a fair amount of practice, I am just not that skillful with it.

It should come as no surprise that I do not use it for hunting. I know many who do, and I admire their skills.

I am also a crossbow enthusiast, though they are not legal in my jurisdiction. I have been tempted to drive out to Ohio just to play with them.

I feel absolutely qualified to contend that you, **Crafter\_Man** , should be ashamed of yourself. Get off the trail and back to the range. That was a wretched kill. The failure is not in the technology, it is in your marksmanship. If you were using a crossbow that is at least adequately quiet and delivered even 250-300 fps, that deer should not have ran more than fifty yards before dying.

If your posts to this thread are in any way indicative of your actual state of mind, then you embody everything that is wrong with American hunters today, and I am thankful that nobody like you practices at my shooting range. You are a disgrace to bowhunters everywhere.
