I find the arbitrary starting date 50+ years ago really irritating. They couldn’t give me just a few more years? When I was ripping my CD library into flac and mp3 files a few years back I really wanted to timestamp each album folder with the actual day of the album release. Then I could easily flip between alphabetical and chronological just in explorer. Of course no joy because some of that music came out in the '60s, which predates the windows file system date range. ---

Just because Time Zero is in 1970 does not mean you cannot represent dates before that, internally stored as negative integers. Did you _try_ setting the timestamps to the dates you wanted? Works fine under Linux; I have not tested Windows yet. ---
