# XP install, missing .dll files?

I was re-installing XP Pro this weekend and I rather absentmindedly deleted a partition (the pc had originally a large C and a small D drive. Windows was on the C drive. I don’t know what was on the D drive, maybe temp stuff?). Smart, huh?
When XP finally loaded, Windows could not find the following files:
Msnmetal.dl\_
Msnmigr.dl\_
Msnms.ic\_
Msnspell.dl\_
Msnunin.ex\_
Msnupgrd.in\_
Msnntmig.dl\_
The underscore signs were on the screen. I assume .dl and .ex are .dll and .exe files, but what is .ic and .in?
Should I seek these files out and download them, or are they obscure networking files I’ll never need?
I am assuming my deletion of the D drive led to Windows not finding my files, is this correct?

My initial thought is that you can live without the files. However, you may try to do an install repair with the XP CD.

It’s not a good idea to leave missing .DLL files on your system. You never know when an application or the system needs to use them. Can you reinstall Windows again?
