# XP question:  How do I kill the Folder Tasks tab?

Arg. I tried to customize a folder. XP said I had to open Folder Tasks. It is amazingly unhelpful, and won’t go away. Can someone help me?

Unless I’m failing to grasp your question, you should be able to: Start, Control Panel, Appearance and Themes, Folder Options, General tab, Tasks, check Use Windows Classic Folders.

Glad to be of assistance. I swear, I think someone could make a career out of telling folks how to turn off various “helpful” features of Windows, Office, etc. I knew one elderly gentleman who nearly committed suicide while trying to deal with bulleted lists in MS Word until I showed him how to turn off the automatic formatting!
