No, I wasn’t making that assertion…not that you (the ‘you’ that are people who are looking at this thing from a partisan/political perspective) of being happy. I’m saying that the countdown to 1000 deaths and the emphasis on its importance is politically motivated and has to do with the election…and it HAS been pretty ‘breathless’, as I’ve heard multiple folks (on this board, on other boards and in the news) counting down (or up I suppose) to 1000 deaths as if this is some kind of watershed or mystical number or something. You tell me where I said that the folks who are looking at it this way (including ‘you’?) are HAPPY about it DtC. If I’m wrong and I’ve been dreaming it, then prove me wrong DtC and I will gladly retract my statement. -XT p.s. Come on mic84, talk about my mama or something…make it interesting at least. Equipoise, when you have 3 family members IN Iraq, as well as a son who just graduated highschool and is in basic training to become a marine, then come back and talk to me. I was IN the first gulf war…you? I’m sorry that some folks HAVE been counting down to 1000 deaths…it pains me that people will do such things for POLITICAL motives. I’m sorry that I’ve pointed this out making some folks uncomfortable and that somehow this makes ME the bad guy…as if me pointing this out makes ME the one counting down somehow. Or perhaps me pointing this out makes me somehow responsible for the deaths. Or something. Is this the best you guys have?? You mis-understand my words and then try and force me into some strawman…and then don’t even do a good job of smacking me around in here on it??? Sheesh. Come on guys, let me have it. I explained to DtC that I wasn’t claiming they were HAPPY about it (if you care, I don’t think they were), but that doesn’t mean they weren’t watching the numbers rise with the 1000th death as a watershed of some kind for political reasons…because there certainly WERE people who were doing just that, and some of them were on this board. Had you asked me in the thread we were in to clairify (since you obviously have issues) and perhaps for a cite I would have been inclined to agree to this and done my best to find one…and too clairify my meaning. At least then you could have actually debated my position instead of the knee jerk one you are trying to force me into. All you seem to be able to say, in the end, is ‘fuck you’. Foul language is the hallmark of the lesser mind who doesn’t really have anything interesting to say. Using foul language can be an art…but you don’t even have a paint brush. **mic84** , Boy, if I ever get around to posting the **xtisme** chapters of my Grand Unified Pitting of the SDMB it’ll sure put this one to shame. The main problem is that your beef is merely of your own devising. People have been waiting on the inevitable 1000th (US, non-mercenary) death. Why not a countdown to 883? or 1023? or 1337? The 1000 mark is just as arbitrary. Not at all the sam as saying that people want the others to get croaked to the underlillies. Come back when you’ve got a meaty beef with **xtisme**. Now I’m going to have to take a break from writing the **xtisme** chapters to add to your section. ---
