When I decided to try to get to know some Dopers better, I got both AOL IM and Yahoo! IM. I’ve dropped Yahoo! because it is an application, not a system tray thing (whatever that’s called). By that I mean that you’ve got to leave the app open and minimized all the time if you want to be alerted when your friends are available. Just seemed like a pain. Besides, all my Doper friends either have AOL IM also, or nothing at all. I’m not sure about this ICQ thingie… ---

I’m on as zyada\_tx (zyada was already taken!) Note: There is a Cecil Adams club on Yahoo and there is one poor soul in the club. I’ve considered signing on just to point him to the boards. However, one trait of the clubs is to show all the members who are currently signed on. If we stormed the club (heh), then we could always tell when other board members were logged in. Comments? I’ll do it, but I don’t want to be the only person. ---

So people really use instant messengers that aren’t ICQ? I downloaded AOL and one other one, but I’m pretty stuck on ICQ. ---
