I don’t see it happening. Illinois and Northwestern played there not long ago, and there were concerns that the wall was too close to one corner of the endzone and all the offenses had to run in the same direction all throughout the game. It just isn’t big enough to fit a football field in safely. ETA- the link does cover that issue and there is an alternate layout that might provide a tad more room. ---

Looks like Wrigley has been laid out two different ways for football. Here’s the old layout [from when the Bears played there](http://i.imgur.com/CuEkOvc.jpg), with the long axis down the left field line, and here’s [the layout for the Northwestern-Illinois game](https://static01.nyt.com/images/2010/11/20/sports/y-jp-wrigley/y-jp-wrigley-jumbo.jpg), where the long axis ran along the right field line. It’s a tight squeeze either way, but I think an equally large problem is that even with temporary bleachers added, there just isn’t a lot of seating capacity, and many of the seats would be in a terrible location. Add in the prospect of being outside for an entire afternoon in Chicago in the winter, and I think the novelty appeal of the “Hell Freezes Over Bowl” would fade after a couple of years. ---
