I’m up in northern NORTHERN New York… So I get a bit of both worlds. Well… of nowhere New York and Montreal on occasion.

I’m reminded of a Simpsons quote… something about Smithers talking to Mr. Burns about a Canadian $5 bill he got from his trip to upstate New York.
can’t find it now…

Oh, man. I miss that. Well, mine was a medium double double. But still, walk into a Starbucks and say _that_. It doesn’t work. ☹

One old fellow went into one of the local Tim’s and asked for a “medium Barney Rubble.” The girl at the counter paused, then said, “I’m sorry, what?” The fellow says, “Medium double double. But it sure does sound like folks are saying medium Barney Rubble, huh?” 😃

I’ve only spent… what, two, three days in Toronto in all my life? And I miss it. Different trees. Intensely friendly retail people – “OMG! You’re from the States? From TEXAS? Have you ever been here before? You have to go to (insert favorite place here).” Which is about what I expect down here in Austin, but it’s a treat to get it from furriners too. 😉

But Lordy, oh Lordy do I miss Tim Horton’s. I am counting the days (and weeks, and months, and probably years) until it filters down as far south as Austin. I want a cup of French Vanilla so badly I can taste it right now. One of my Canuck friends has promised to bring me a canister when she comes to visit. She works at Tim’s. God bless her.

There’re a couple Tim Horton’s in Ann Arbor, MI, where I used to live. Sometimes we had timbits in the office. They’re tasty, but they’re…you know, doughnut holes. Doughnut holes are yummy. But they aren’t particularly special doughnut holes.

I feel like I’m missing something here. I’m not a coffee drinker, so maybe that’s it.

I am very fond of Second Cup’s cranberry cider, though. **Helen’s Eidolon** sends me cannisters of the mix from time to time, and I got **Eva Luna** to bring me some from when she went to Toronto last year. Mmmm.
