If you don’t sell it all and then just plain want to get rid of it rather than move it, you might donate it to the Linus Project if you have a nearby branch, and let their volunteers use it to knit/crochet charity blankets for needy kids. ---

What I want to know is where did the verb “destashing” come from? I take it’s meant as a synonym for divestment, but I’ve never heard the word before. Is it some sort of knitting slang? ---

So if you’re going to get rid of your stash, it’s destashing. 🙂 ---

Well, I’m moving across the country, am pregnant and will have to pay for COBRA for a few months so I have insurance when I give birth, and my husband won’t start working until September, so yeah, I’m selling it! If I have stuff left that I still want to get rid of close to the move, I’d donate it, but I’m really trying to sell what I can first. Plus, most of it’s not machine washable, or acrylic, which is what most charities want for donated items. ---

I think **zweisamkeit** hit the nail on the head. We’re really not talking about leftovers from completed projects. We’re talking about the stuff we couldn’t resist and figured we’d use it “sometime.” And we circle like vultures when someone decides they need to destash. It’s too good to pass up and we’ll use it…sometime. 😃 ---
