I sometimes listen to the Stuff You Should Know podcast during my long commute to work. Today’s was about yawning. They talked about contagious yawning: basically you see someone yawn, so you yawn. I can attest that just hearing people talking about yawning can cause yawning. I yawned the whole way to work while listening to it. So, if you read this and yawn, then sorry (actually, I’m not sorry at all, bwah-ha-ha-ha-haaa). _yawn_ ---

Is this the very definition of a boring conversationalist? Are you trying to make me [stifles it] yawn? Well, we Pepperwinkles are of a sterner [stifling another] stuff than that, my friend! I refuse to let it out, so bwah-ha-ha-ha-haaa yourse… {Yawn!}. Damn. ---

Just passing the thread title made me yawn. I am enormously susceptible to contagious yawning, much to the cruel delight of my little cousins. Last night, reading a book with the Celtling, a picture of a cartoon ape yawning made me yawn. :sigh: The good news: it’s a function of empathy, and therefore a sure sign that you are not a psychopath. So there’s that. Nice little litmus test for second dates. ---

I think I once started a GQ thread years ago about yawning. If it triggers yawning in others as a sympathetic response, are sociopaths immune to it? ---

Think that is contagious, when you are in a public waiting area, like a doctor/dentist office, train station, bus stop, or other public place where people are waiting, as soon a someone gets a call/text on their phone, everyone grabs their phone and starts futzing with it. Oh, by the way, I just got a call… ---
