# Yeah, I scoffed, I warned. The Moms made a plan. Have to keep these things on the DL or kids get riled up. They won’t sleep, they won’t eat(well, that’s a lie, they always eat) they sweat the small stuff. Cause problems for Moms, mostly. I say, that’s their headache and ignore it. But in an abundance of caution they don’t tell the kids til this morning. “Hey, guess what? We’re going to the Zoo today!!” Somehow I never got the memo ahead of time. I warned, Too hot, too much for the baby twins, too many people gonna be there. It was free something-something day. You don’t go on that day. Parking will be awful. No matter, they never heard anything I said. Went on their merry way. Strangely quiet all afternoon. They got back right before dinner time. The kids were all animated and telling me what all they did. So, so cute. Alas, all my worries were for naught. Apparently it wasn’t _that_ crowded. It was hot. But the zoo had misting stations. The kids loved that. Their hair was all sticking to their scalps, even dry. But the most special was youngest girl grandwrek, she sez, all excited, clapping, “Nana, Nana we had the best ice cream, _tiger icecream_ !!” What’s that you say? Tell me more. Seems it was orange sherbet, vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge ripplin’ through. Oh, good lord. Can that sound even half way good? Moms assure me it was mighty great. Like really really great! Umm. They could’ve lied and said it was awful. Why didn’t they just lie and say it was awful? Now I remember, not because everyone has tiger ear headbands. Not because everyone has a picture of the Mom Tigers paw print with her new baby’s paw print. I remember it was Tiger day at the zoo by the description of _tiger icecream_ !! I’ll never forget. ---

When my little brother lived in Dexter, Michigan, after retiring he went to the zoo _every day_ (weather permitting) to practice his photography. It was a short drive. When he moved to Denver, Colorado a few years ago he purposely bought a condo within walking distance of the zoo. He goes every day (weather permitting) and knows the history of many of the animals. ---

Do they have season passes or something? That could get pricey. I think it’s $20 for adults, here. But, wouldn’t that be fun? What a life to live. ---

Back when I was still going to theme parks, I found that the hottest days are the best time to go to the theme park, especially if they have a water park. Everyone goes to the water park, and all the other rides are basically empty. ---

The other thing I was surprised about and the kids really loved was a butterfly exhibit. They go in, after a brief instruction, and butterflies are just everywhere. They land on you if you move really slow. The Moms got some great pictures of it. I would so do that.
