# Yeah, I'm complaining again.

I’m no spring chicken at 37, but judging by the tone of this thread the median age of the sdmb must be about 75. Plugs and tattoos look great on [this young lady](https://www.instagram.com/monamifrost/?hl=en).

No, she looks good _despite_ the alterations. She started as a strikingly beautiful woman, but all the tattoos and such don’t make her look better, they make her look like she doesn’t know there is a difference between good attention and bad attention. She has made herself into a sideshow attraction, which is her right, but that does not mean I need to approve or cannot find it a little tragic.

Just because old people have been saying things like this since time immemorial doesn’t make them true.
I mean, I get that you don’t like her look, but to call it “tragic” and a “side show” is too much.

That’s the fun part about opinions. Lots of people, probably more than you think, genuinely like the look of all kinds of tattoos, piercings, and other body modifications. Just as many people think they’re hideously tacky freakshow mistakes.
Now, what I don’t get is why someone you don’t/barely know should care that you don’t approve of their particular fashion choices. I’m just glad it’s becoming more acceptable to have a look that isn’t necessarily super mainstream and still be able to snag a decent job.

If I hit the lottery, big time, I would track [this gal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2pRobV-WpI) down and offer her any combination of tattoo removal/cover-up she’d want.
I like inky girls but that makes me sad.

She doesn’t know or care about my opinion because I’m too smart to mention it at work. Internet anonymity strikes again! 😃
But I have lightened up a lot about tattoos since I started here, and some of you helped. Another person who helped was a woman from AA. A right Valkyrie, she was, tall, blonde, and stacked. Liked off the shoulder blouses to show off a vine of pale blue roses on her creamy upper back and down the side. Stunning. She said that her original intent was to do them in full color, but she liked the effect of the blue sketch. So did I.
She also wanted to go bicycle riding with me. I said my wife might object. She said, “Then don’t tell her.” I begged off, though it seemed like a GREAT idea at the time. :eek: I have maintained my baby-elephant figure in small part because my head is easily turned by a long leg or silky shoulder. Who knew that women also like nice guys with senses of humor who show interest in them and their lives? I’m so doomed that I may as well lose weight. 😃

Have you asked her what she thinks of her attire? Why would you actually care how she looks?

[This is taking it a bit too far for my taste.](https://www.instagram.com/p/_88AG6nROE/?taken-by=monamifrost) It actually makes me shudder (and that seems to be her gleeful intention). But it does at least show that she could walk around even a very conservative office, and with just a little length to her hair, only the eagle-eyed gossip mongers would notice anything.
I object to refusing talented people work due to their clothing or personal style. I have hired people who clearly were unable or unwilling to conform to the dress code and a couple of those were incredible assets to the organization. I don’t find ear gauges the least bit attractive, but like most fashion choices others make - it’s none of my business.
In the early 90’s, I once put the kibosh on a discussion in which one old fuddy-duddy argued against promoting a woman because she didn’t shave her legs. I checked his ankles (which showed because the elastic was gone in his socks, as usual!) and suggested that he not try to impose any rules on her that he wasn’t following himself. His disconcerted agitation was fun to watch as he twitched self-consciously through the rest of the meeting. 😃
Your description of her skirt would be my biggest concern. I do require that my employees cover their bikini areas in the office. In fact, I’m quite demanding on that count.

Fair point.
I just assume that for every person with plug ear rings there is a Significant Other somewhere with a boat clip and a lanyard looking to pull them down the street for fun.
…And maybe if she’s Poly they have a regular weekend game of how many people can fit on a carabiner clip and in what order…
