Ugh. It seems like I can’t get enough shit over my recent relationship choices. I recently started going out with a somewhat older woman. Somewhat older meaning 48, 30 years older than me. My friends, whenever they hear about it, are disgusted. What the fuck? She’s pretty damn hot, doesn’t look anything like 40, and we really have a good thing going. Why the hate? Is it so disgusting for a senior to be dating a MILF? I haven’t been parading it around, I’ve just been somewhat honest, and already my friends are reacting as if I was dating a 70-year-old man with a scat fetish? Ouch. Come on. That’s just weak. ---

I’d be less worried about why an 18-year-old is dating a 48-year-old and more worried about why a 48-year-old is dating an 18-year-old. It is obligatory in this sorts of threads to point out that were the dynamic a 40-something man and a teenaged girl a lot of people would be skeeved out with some justification. That said, you’re above the age of consent so do what makes you happy. But…no, it’s already been said. ---

I’m older than 48 but at that age my sons were 18 and 20 and I could sooner imagine myself flying to the moon than having a relationship (even a friendship) with someone of their age. The reason he’s doing it is that it’s enjoyable for him now, and what’s the downside, other than the crap he’s getting from his friends? Sure, it won’t last forever, but the average romance between two 18 year olds has a half-life best measured in weeks or months anyway. And he may be passing up relationships with girls his own age, but even if this fling with Mrs. Robinson lasts a couple of years (which is about the max it _should_ last), he’s still got plenty of time for that later. And if she dumps him while he’s still really into their relationship, well, we all get our hearts broken sometime. OK, so she’s not the kind of girl he can bring home to Mom. OTOH, since she’s 48, chances of her getting pregnant would be quite slim even if they used no birth control. And he probably is learning a lot from her, without the drama that often goes with a relationship with an 18 year old girl. My advice to **Budget Player Cadet** would be: enjoy it while it lasts, don’t expect it to last forever (and if it seems like she’s maybe thinking it should, _run awaaaayyy!!!_), and just be prepared to put up with the crap from friends, because 18 year old guys aren’t particularly mature on average. ---

IM limited E, the best sex is with the crazy ones - and judging from other threads around here, many other guys seem to have had the same experience. OTOH, “don’t get too emotionally attached to the crazy” is a good rule.
