How prevalent is, “Yeah, yeah, yeah” in popular music? Hayley Mills sang it in 1961 in the Disney film, “The Parent Trap”, in the duo with herself, “Let’s Get Together, Yeah Yeah Yeah.” Two years later John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote the lyric, “She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah.” (Were they fans of fellow Brit Mills?) Today the band, ‘Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ is popular. Are there more examples of Yeah x 3? ---

There’s a line in Roy Orbison’s Pretty Woman that’s just “Pretty woman, yeah, yeah, yeah.” I like ol’ Roy, but I’ve always felt that was some lazy songwriting there. (Plus he tries to rhyme it with “Pretty woman, look my way” IIRC. Not his most outstanding lyrical effort, really). ---

The chorus of LCD Soundsystem’s “Yeah” is “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah … yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah”. The chorus is repeated many, many times. The verses are short and seem to exist mainly to break up the “yeahs”. You might think that a song that consists almost entirely of the word “yeah” would be boring, but it is a very catchy song and is amazing when they perform it live. ---
