# Yep, it's hopeless.

Well, if I was, I’d be meeting my mom in Amsterdam, and wouldn’t care what anecdotes she tells, IYKWIM!

As it is, my mom has cut way back on her drinking, for reasons not entirely clear to me. The fact that she can have A glass of wine and leave it at that is a good thing, of course. I dunno; she was never a binge alcoholic, only a maintenance alcoholic.

What do you suppose this story represents to her? Why does it have to be told and retold? Is she trying to dig at you? Or is she trying to say something about that time in her life?

By no means do I excuse her, but tales told again and again are done so for a reason-no matter how odd or irrational. She probably doesn’t even understand her need to do so.

But I’ll bet it’s tied to the drinking.
