Bah. Losing what? Personally, I don’t care if he called Tom DeLay a chicken fucker on Sunday morning TV. Politics are a miserable business in which the prime product is bullshit, and it’s consumers are force fed the worst of it. Frankly, it’s about time we squeezed something interesting out of it. Actually, I _think_ that the rule is that profanity is banned in the Senate Chamber – period. There is no qualifier about not being in session, but that is being used as a reason not to pursue the issue further and to smooth things over. The rule is there for a reason. We don’t need problems to escalate to the point that they have in some governing bodies with slug fests and shoot outs. It is to Senator Leahy’s credit that he did not respond in kind. What they say in private is their business.
