Booze is one for me too. Mom regularly berrates me for putting a good scotch or cognac over ice. The alcohol or how its produced don’t make a difference; if it’s not hot cocoa, I like my drinks, all of them, ice cold. Apparently, I’m not classy.

I put mayo, ketchup, mustard and relish on a burger or hot dog. Mr. mayo is on the side with Mr. ketchup and Mssrs mustard and relish on the opposite side (bun) Mr. mayo is not allowed to touch Mr mustard in any way.

I drink hot beverages hot and cold beverages warm. Don’t put any ice in anything I drink ever.

I like ketchup on grilled cheese sandwiches, but I wouldn’t dream of putting it on mac and cheese.

I periodically go off eggs altogether (when I think too hard about what they really are) so when I’m ‘on’ nothing should jiggle, run, or be moist.

I put ice in cocktails, but that’s about it. I don’t like soft drinks ice cold - I can’t drink them fast without it hurting my mouth. It’s not a sensitive teeth thing really (although that can hurt), but it actually makes my palate ache. How can people enjoy that feeling?

I’ve found smoothies go surprisingly well with Chinese food.

I also like my poultry a bit dry—that’s how mom always cooked it. Though, ah, you might not want to mention that to her.

The Russian who taught me to make borscht makes it hot, so that’s the way I make it, too. And as for the cheesesteak, I’m not convinced there _is_ a wrong cheese: The original used Cheez Whiz, for crying out loud. The worst you could say about using actual cheddar on a cheesesteak is that it might be a waste of good cheddar.

Personally, it only bothers me when people eat their food the “wrong” way if they’ve never tried it the “right” way. If you’ve had steak with nothing but a little salt and pepper, and you still like it better with ketchup, fine, here’s the bottle. But at least try it without.

When I eat spaghetti bolognese, the only cheese I’ll put on it is authentic mature CHEDDAR justa likea mama useda to make it. (and still does)

Parmesan with tomato sauce tastes like vomit. I don’t like eating vomit.

Oh yeah, another thumbs down for ‘al dente’, which really means ‘having the texture of a tooth’. no thanks.

I have also heard it said that tiramisu should be light and fluffy. NO. Like all good desserts it should be dense enough so a wall of it could bring a runaway car to a graceful and delicious stop.

But when it comes to steak and burgers I’m afraid I must side with the pinkoes.

I like instant mashed potatoes. I think that they are quite tasty. They are potatoes after all, if processed a little and dehydrated. I think that anybody who says otherwise either hasn’t actually tried it, or tried a bad brand.
That being said, whenever I do make mashed taters, or fries, out of normal potatoes I always leave the skin on. Because I think it tastes great that way.

To continue on the food theme, I disagree on the convential way of breaking eggs. That being you should break an egg on a flat surface, because using a sharp surface will drive shell fragments into the egg. I rather think quite the opposite. A sharp surface would drive shrapnel into the egg true, except no shrapnel is created. That is because the shell is a hard, brittle material and so a fine, clean break is formed. When striking on a flat surface however, alot of shrapnel _is_ created, formed of assymetrical strings of protien. And when you push your thumb up into the egg to break it fully to release the white-and-yolk, _that_ pushes fragments into the egg, which must be fished out.
And so I say the best place to break an egg off of is the blunt edge of a knife. It’s sharp enough to do a good job, but a few fingers are not going to fall into your omelet.

Hot dogs: Get your nasty yellow mustard away from me. If you don’t have a serious spicy brown mustard (ideally with some horseradish in it–yum) then I’ll have my hot dog with ketchup and relish only.

Pizza: I’ll take it cold. With Diet Pepsi. For breakfast.

Sandwiches: Virtually every cold-cut-style sandwich is better if you use buttered toast instead of bread with mayo, mustard, and a bunch of other stuff. Just buttered toast, meat, and cheese. That’ll be all.

Broccoli: If you’re going to cook it into a limp, soggy mass, just make soup out of it. I take my broccoli crispy. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be hot. And I like to slice the stems and eat those with cheese and walnuts.

Tequila: I don’t want salt. I don’t want lime. I sure as heck don’t want to slam it down. If I’m paying the price for a good glass of tequila, I’ll be sipping it and enjoying it, thankyouverymuch. _(I am a heathen, though, because I like most tequilas somewhat chilled)_

Hard, grated cheeses (e.g., Parmesan) go great on a pan-fried fish filet. And I’ll second lox & cream cheese on a bagel.

I have had plenty of “good” instant mashed potatoes, I just think that mashed potatoes should be lumpy, darned it :).

Personally, I prefer to hit the egg against another egg. It is fun and if there is spillage, it just gets on the egg and not on the counter/bowl/whatever.

Also, put down for no cold drinks. If you must, you may refrigerate the bottle, but don’t add extra ice. It waters down the beverage and makes it harder to drink.

I never thought of ketchup on hotdogs as being out of the ordinary. I always put ketchup on my hotdog. The weirdos are the ones who use _mustard_. Ewwww. Mustard goes on pretzels and pretzels only!

I also like my eggs fully cooked, although I don’t mind a slightly runny center in eggs cooked over medium. Scrambled, though? Gotta be well done.

My pasta also needs to be cooked, fully.
