Well, I’ve had spell check for so long that my spelling skillz ( Hah. Take that, elitists) have atrophied more than my tail. I’m kind of skeptical that I got dumber as this happened. And sux0rs is an example of leetspeech, so-called for the many ‘people’ whom Rite l13k Th!5. (That’s ‘write like this’.) I was making a joke, sort of. ---

Look, it’s a simple statement of fact. When my piers are limited to my high school buddies, I am much smarter than average. When y’all are my piers, I’m not. Yes, y’all. Deal. Should I apoligi- say I’m sorry because I came across as arrogant? I tried to use a metaphor, which went nova on me. ---

When I read posts that are poorly spelled and/or in which the use of grammar is indifferent I assume that the person is a) too lazy to proofread or use even basic spell-check programs, or b) doesn’t care enough about his topic to bother to write correctly, or c) doesn’t respect his reader enough to write correctly, or d) isn’t smart enough to spell correctly or understand the effect that appearing ignorant has to his fellow posters, or e) all of the above. In the real world you are judged on appearances, and the only appearances we have to go on are your posts. **magic8ball** - a lisp is not acquired through laziness, although it can often be corrected through therapy. A handicap is not comparable to a lifestyle choice. StG ---

Because that’s what you said. If you meant to say contemporaries, the word is **peer**. Your meaning (which I would like some kind of cite for–are we talking about grades? Test scores? Approval from teachers and adults? How are you judging your superiority here?) was rendered null by your spelling. Was I missing the joke? ---

[slight hijack] Why is it that (especially, in this form of communication), people who have usually misspelled words…why can’t they pick up on the correct spelling after having seen it spelled correctly hundreds, maybe even thousands of times? Sorry if that doesn’t make sense. 😃 Example: one posts on message boards constantly , yet still continues to spell “board”, “baord”. I mean, they see it day in and day out, yet, it doesn’t dawn on them that they are spelling it wrong. This one guy I know spells “thought” as “thaught”, and even though it’s been pointed out to him, he still spells it like that.[/slight hijack] 😕 ---

Grades, general knowledge, literacy, SATs, that sort of thing. (GPA 3.6) (Lots, I read the Dope) (1480) There were many people smarter than me in high school. There are many, many more people smarter than me here. And I got a 5 on the A.P. Biology exam. Ph33R my 3117 A(A|]3//|[ skillz. (That’s, “Fear my elite academic skillz.”) ---
