Congratulations – or condolences, however you look at it – to John Corrado, our newest Pit moderator. He joins Alphagene and Lynn Bodoni as a fellow hall monitor and all around good egg. your humble TubaDiva Administrator I would say “obey him as you do me,” but that would be really unfair. ---

Congratulations. Your assignment does pose a numbers question: Does the fact that there are three pit mods (vs. only one each for 4 of the forums) mean that you have to operate in shifts? Do the IMHO and Mailbag posters go home at 5:00, while the Pit posters suffer insomnia? Does the graveard shift produce the most otherworldly posts? Or does the Pit simply operate on regular hours, but get too intense to walk alone? Also, if you’re good, will they let you transfer out when your eardrums are shot? I hope so! Dying of earbleeds would be a terrible way to go! 😃 ---

There’s a lot of reasons that the Pit gets three moderators, while some others only get one. First off, there’s a lot less volume in the singly-moderated fora: The Mailbag forum, for instance, once went four days without any posts. Another big factor is what a moderator would need to do in each forum. In the two comments fora, the most common need for moderation is when a thread was posted to one forum, and belongs in the other. If this isn’t handled immediately, it’s no big deal: We can afford to wait until Dex wakes up. On the other hand, the Pit sees rather a share of trolling, ad hominens, etc, which really do need to be taken care of as quickly as possible. Of course, the final reason is that **Arnold Winkelried** is continually online 24 hours a day, with his computer hooked up directly to a socket installed in his brain, and can moderate solo at any time. How did you think he always manages to be the first to post the link? 😉 ---
