So I’m sitting here, eating reheated leftover pizza topped with eggplant and hamburger, and thinking ye gods but this is delicious! And yet I know a lot of other folks would think “EW!” – at least to the eggplant. I’ve of course had many other toppings over the years, and oddly enough, pepperoni is way down on the list of what I like. Got any offbeat preferences for pizza you persist in despite the disgust of family and friends? ---

It’s not an everyday go-to, but anchovy and pineapple work really well for me in that sweet and salty way, and then I like heat, so jalapeños for me. It’s almost kind of if you squint not too far off something like a Thai pineapple curry, combining sweet, sour, fishy, and heat. ---

I know you’re asking someone else, but I’ve seen it at Happy Joe’s in the Quad Cities, Iowa, and a few places in Wisconsin. I haven’t sought it out here in Chicago, but I bet someone must have it. ---

My favorite pizza is fig, prosciutto, chevre, and balsamic drizzle. My most memorable “much better than expected” was a shrimp and caper pizza outside Florence. ---

I won’t lie, at least 20% of the deliciousness came from sitting at a piazza table in an Italian village. But still pretty darn good. ---
