# Yet another Star Wars thread: Best-Worst

On a scale of 1-10…
1. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 10/10 (My all time #1 film)
2. Episode IV: A New Hope 9/10
3. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 8/10
4. Episode I: The Phantom Menace 7/10
5. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 4/10
6. Episode II: Attack of the Clones 3/10…so utterly terrible.

2. Revenge of the Sith: 8/10
3. Return of the Jedi: 8/10
4. Star Wars: 7/10
5. Attack of the Clones: 5/10
6. The Phantom Menace: 5/10
I never saw the original (Episode IV), until I was in my teens, so it doesn’t have the nostalgia factor the other two of the original trilogy have for me. When I was a kid _Return of the Jedi_ was my all-time favorite movie. (I liked it better than _Empire_ because of the happy ending and the Ewoks.)
Episodes I and II are on even footing for me. Bot have a few good scenes surrounded by a lot of mediocrity.

I saw the first two when they came out in the 70s and were numbered differently. They’re now 4 and 5 I think. I never saw the third one.
Then I saw the first of the newer ones when it was released a few years ago. I thought it was utter rubbish and I haven’t seen any since. I won’t be going to the latest one.
My ratings:
Episode 4: 7/10
Episode 5: 7/10
Episode 1: 3/10

Man, Sith was bad. Some good moments, but the fight scenes were so Byzantine I often didn’t know what I was supposed to be looking at. Christiansen and Portman were more wooden than ever. Sloppy pacing throughout. Once again, Ian McDiarmid makes a lackluster movie better, but he couldn’t save this one. Highly overrated.
And what’s with the Jedi hating? Poor editing, but it wasn’t that awful.

I think both Attack of the Clones as the Phantom Menace were just too childish.
I wouldn’t want to be the parent of a kid who saw these.

Star Wars
Jedi (I grew up with the Ewoks and never realized there was widespread Ewok-hatred until recent times on the Internet)
Sith (very close to Jedi; I think Sith is a better movie throughout, but the great scenes in Jedi elevate it slightly above)

I actually can’t believe how many people are rating the Sith in the top 3.
Personally, I prefer to think of the original trilogy as one self contained work of art, and the new trilogy as a completely different work or… er art (or something)\*.
\*with the amount of fecal matter present in various works of modern art over the passed decade or two, I guess the word “art” could apply here.
