[/QUOTE] I have to say this gives me the heebie jeebies. Like it would somehow be ok if the guy just had a meth problem and not teh gay. While I have never quite figured out how gay marriage was supposed to harm my family, but I sure can see a lot of harm to families by meth. Whether it is the meth lab releasing toxens and creating potential bombs in family neighborhoods; or it is the harm created by bringing us the next generation of drug addicts to abuse and neglect their kids. (I already see the last generation of kids of drug addicts in my classroom) These people do harm my family. They cost me as a tax payer in terms of policing and schools. They cost me as a cold and alergy sufferer in terms of having a hard time buying the colds medication that works. The only cost to me in terms of gay marriage, is that my daughter’s best friend’s would have had the same protections under the law that my daughter does when her bio mom died. Oh wait. That isn’t a cost. ---

Change will come in the religious right community from the bottom up, as a younger generation of Christians forms online communities and coming up with their own conclusions about things, rather than trusting in televangelists. Jesus stated two positive commandments, which you know of, and was particularly irked by two kinds of sins: hypocrisy, and hardness of heart. With respect to gays and to his own sexuality, Haggard’s demonstrated both in abundance. If one is expecting anything from evangelical Christianity that would have anything to do with the Jesus of the Gospels, such a man’s leadership is harmful, not helpful. Perhaps less harmful than that of a Pat Robertson or James Dobson, but that’s not saying a whole hell of a lot. ---
