was delivered today in my mailbox.

My question is just why did I get a the refund via USPS?

I am not debating the merits of GWB’s tax proposal but I am wondering why this thing was not direct deposited into my checking account.

Countless times from the media, accountants, lawyers, advisors, IRS, amongst others I was told to get into the 21st century and have my normal refund direct deposited. It was faster, safer, and easier. I AGREE! I DDed my refunds from the last two years.

Today I get a check, which a thief easily could have pilfered out of my unsecured street mailbox. I got to go to the bank and deposit it via night depository or ATM.

Why all the publicity to Direct Deposit your normal refunds if they didn’t DD the $300 or $600 refunds?

BTW, I do not want to debate the merits of getting a tax refund in April and giving the US Gov’t free interest on my money. I typically receive about $125 back and I am too worried about the $5 or $6 dollars I can make on that money

From the irs web site, at [http://www.irs.gov/ind\_info/apinfo/apfaq.html#Q26](http://www.irs.gov/ind_info/apinfo/apfaq.html#Q26)

> Can my advance payment be directly deposited into my bank account?
> Unfortunately, direct deposit is not possible because the account information used during the filing season may no longer be accurate. For example, for thousands of taxpayers who obtained refund anticipation loans, the accounts they designated on their returns are generally closed after the loans are paid off.
