what the hell? more than half of the shit in this forum (bbq) is offensive. and Who the hell takes YO MAMA jokes seriously??? this really burns me up. I thought these jokes were genuinely humorous. believe it or not, as I read them, I really didn’t think the people were talking about MY mama. So, I guess its ok to spout off in blue language about how much I hate so and so or such and such (regardless of how un pc it is), just so long as I not mention a fictious mama? or it’s ok to joke about how stupid blondes are??? explain the difference between a stupid blonde joke and a yo mama joke, please. WHAT THE FUCK??? so is it ok if I name people specifically? I just thought I would point out that Garrison Keillor in his PBS program “A Prairie Home Companion” has a program every year dedicated integrally to jokes and they always have a long segment of Yo Mama jokes. I guess nobody told them they are not PC. \ Maybe we could make them acceptable then if we turned them into “Garrison Keillor’s Mama is…” jokes as he doesn’t seem to mind them. ---

i think that it was shut down because it was started in revenge to a comment in the thread “esprix the newbie?”. the “yo momma” thread was not actually affiliated, though, so it did seem a tad irrational to shut it down. eh. [sub] i’m on a really slow shared connection at my school, so i don’t have the bandwidth to run a search. so, someone else can run the search or i’ll just post links when i get home.[/sub] ---

In general, pointless flaming is not allowed. It falls into a gap between MPSIMS and the Pit. If you are seriously upset about something, you can flame about it in the Pit. If you want to crack jokes you can do it in MPSIMS. But historically, joke flames have been closed by the mods. Including “Yo mama” jokes. If you were actually using them to insult someone who upset you, I think it would be allowed. It’d be pretty lame, but probably allowed. If you have a burning need to see “Your mama” jokes they are the weapon of choice is Usenet; I recommend dropping into alt.fan.britney and asking if her boobs are fake. –John ---

There’s a thread in MPSIMS concerning “Because I said so. . .” which can tie in here. Lynn, as an administrator is, a sort of mother figure on this board. As such, she has the ability to make decisions like that. And, although I also saw no need for the thread to be closed, I do see that that is totally within her rights as an admin, even if for no more reason than “Because I said so.” ---
