Sighhh. He asked me how my skin rated on the ‘Maris Piper’ scale, a nonsensical reference to a breed of potatoes and the supposed color of my skin. I replied with a similarly nonsensical reference about a random organ of his and it’s resemblance to a strain of tomatoes, the Roma. I’m a guy. ---

My copy of Ulysses says this about Finnegans Wake: “(it) goes beyond even Ulysses in its challenge to readers”. Having considered Ulysses impossible, I am not in any rush to buy anything that is even more difficult to read. Err, carry on. Some top dollar invective spinning around here over some fairly minor shit, IMHO. ---

Evidently, I’m not down with the kids. **Ilsa\_Lund** , a straw poll of people I went out with last night (Dopers and Non Dopers alike) revealed that nobody had ever heard of Roma Tomatoes. And even if they had, how the _fuck_ does a tomato look like a liver, alcohol damaged or not? Wanker. ---

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but by god I will not have tomatoes besmirched. Roma tomatoes are not a rare item. They are popular because they are firm and meaty, and don’t have a lot of juice. It’s poor logic to assume that because YOU haven’t heard of them, no one could have done. Your straw poll results surprise me. Roma tomatoes are also sometimes called plum tomatoes, but I thought Roma was the more common appelation.
