I realize that, but nobody said I had to be in front of the beast. If were off to its side or behind it, the leg bone would not be an issue.

I doubt a T-Rex leg bone would stand up to a .50 cal round anyway. Bones are very strong in compression, but are not nearly as resistant to lateral forces.

A good point. Seems like if you could use the gun to even knock him off balance you’d do some good damage.

that goes back to the knee argument though. A knee is a bigger target, and you don’t have to be dead on to disable movement.

You just need enough KE transfer to break a leg bone. Still, the center of mass is a better bet.
