Perhaps those people don’t want their very favorite spirits to become commonplace. No matter how good something is, you’ll get sick of it if you have it every night. Or, at least it will be less special than it once was. Or, I dunno, maybe those people enjoy liquor but don’t have strong feelings about any type or brand in particular. ---

It’s a pretty small category, but George Dickel makes a number of variations, as do the Jack Daniels people. That’s why I was so baffled; saying that if you had 3 bottomless liquor bottles, and you’d choose to have them all (or only keep one) filled with garden-variety Old No 7 Jack Daniels struck me as some kind of silly machismo. You know the kind- “it was good enough for my grand-pappy, 'erefore it’s good enough for me.” (despite sucking balls, and said grand-pappy only drinking it because it was what he could afford, not what he’d get, budgetary restrictions notwithstanding). ---
