[nitpick hijack] I happen to like Gordon Lightfoot’s music rather a lot, and I would be happy to run away w/ this thread into a debate of its inherent calming qualities. Mayhap the OP should go do some research by listening to any Gordon Lightfoot music and report back after a few hours w/ his thoughts and ideas. You were wrong about several things; you insulted all dopers by your opening post. Now many of us won’t take offense from it, but you did, right in your OP call us all collectively “hypocrites” You had some specifics peeves that may have been justified, but your point gets buried when you start with a **Broad Brush** and curse and rant. 1. You pitted both Doper’s and the Time Man of the Year selection in a single pitting. 2. I would recommend that you only pit one or the other and if you feel compelled to pit both, do so on separate days at least. 3. Your points on Spielberg are an honest opinion and may have made for a good debate. (I think several of his films are masterpieces, separate subject at this point and maybe you should start a calm, discussion in Café on this subject) 4. Your points on Gates were wrong. The Charity he gives is towards the high end both by dollars and percentage. 5. The Melinda point was wrong but minor, she does look like a trophy wife, and it just happens she has a brilliant mind and her own skills. 6. It looks like you may have had some good points about how Bono is more deserving than the others named. Really, if you want to stay in the SDMB and become a valued member, take it easy in the pit. Work on improving the comprehension level of your OP and Posts. Jim ---

After discussing this with the staff, it has been decided that **andrewdt85** is suspended for a month. Please use this time to turn off the computer and go outside and play. Contemplate future and better uses of your time and energy. Read all the SDMB rules and see if can’t figure out how to live with those rules. If you’re on medication, maybe it’s time to get it checked. If you’re not on medication, maybe it’s time to start. Consider the phase “anger management” and what it means to you. If that’s a new phrase, look into it. Come back with a better attitude and a new disposition, or don’t come back at all. Otherwise, your future here will be very short-lived. See you in a month.
