And here I am, fresh out of the top-secret initiation procedures (with my new clique assignments in hand). Damn, I thought the goat, the branding, and the one handed push-ups were hard to deal with when I was a Newbie at my first Doper Dinner. I can’t tell you about what happens when you hit 1000 (trust me, we’d all pay dearly if I did), but let’s just say they can do wonderful things with scar removals these days, so I’m not that worried. I’ve really enjoyed being a poster here. I’ve learned alot about a wide selection of subjects, met some really cool people, practiced writing, solidified my smart-ass skills, and laughed a whole lot. Thanks to all who have helped me, defended me, and given me a nice ribbing when I had it coming. I really think this is one of the smartest groups of people I have ever seen. I feel like I’m a better person for having participated. Thanks to all of the mods and adimns for keeping it to that higher ground around here. A quick look at some Yahoo boards or some random music boards almost make me gag after 10 months here. I like the deep thoughts and tough issues and this place is the best I’ve found to hash 'em out. Keep up the good work. Finally, thank you to “The Perfect Master” **Cecil** for spear-heading this, the most noble of all battles, and to the Chicago Reader for financing it. I really do love this shit. Let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help. You guys are really onto something here. Am I gushing yet? I feel like Julia Roberts at the Academy awards! Regarding the thread title, that’s not true because the first post is counted, or something. As for your nick, I keep thinking of some intellectual lightweight who subscribed one of my old e-mail addresses to a bunch of spam lists using the name ‘Lovindaspam’. Congrats on the kilopost. And now it’s lost to the Great Crash. But you still only got “beat” once—at the time of the crash, I was at 985. So close! Then when the board came back up, it was 600 even. Well, actually, since the post number is not the number you are working on, it actually is 1000. Count from 1 to 10…you’ll find at the end you’ve counted 10 numbers. The difference is that when the first year goes…you’re not done with the year until the next year starts. You’re done with the post as soon as you post it. So posts: 1000, means you’ve posted 1000 times. Now, post 1001 is the first post of your next thousand posts. 🙂 Congrats! I’d be joining you with 1000 very shortly if we hadn’t lost so many. I’d be up around 945 or so. 🙂 ---
