I was at a message board a while ago, and one poster had something in his sig that said:

> IP Address: xx.xx.xxx.xx
> Host: [host name]
As we all know, this information is collected every time we visit any site. I suppose it can be stored for future reference. What if you don’t want web sites to have this information?

Use one of the popular [anonymous web proxies](http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=web+anonymizer). You go to the proxy’s web site and enter the real site you want to visit – the proxy doesn’t keep records of who visits it.
