You can jam with anyone. Who would it be?

  • **The Rolling Stones **without Keef - so I could be Keef; actually with him, but with him letting me fill in on some of his parts
  • **AC/DC **without Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar - actually, same as above
  • Jeff Beck, so I could watch
  • Prince, so I could learn and funk out (I couldn’t learn watching Jeff Beck, because I can’t play like him ;))

ETA: The Beatles are my favorite band, but, per Dio, other than Hamburg, I don’t think of them as a jammy band.

Jerry Garcia. Dude knows a million songs and I could just fill in on rhythm guitar while he does his thing.

Second choice…Lemmy. Although he’d probably have to jam alone after I passed out from the pre-jam partying.

Nickel Creek. I haven’t touched my sax or piano in such a long time, but I would make them jam and I would sing. <3 And they would pretend to like my voice!

Either that or Mike Patton. tbh I’d just spend the hour drooling while watching him do stuff.

It would be my honor to play rhythm guitar with Neil Young and Pearl Jam on Rockin in the Free World

Bass saxophone with Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang in the late '20s or early '30s.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse, hands down.

Try this guy!

Interesting - I am not familiar with him. At first I was struck by his almost “pop/slap” style of playing guitar - something I normally associate with bass. But in terms of what he is doing - it is how I play all the time when I am playing on my own. He is basically using open “drone” strings and a rhythmic approach to “fill in the sound” around the main chords he is playing.

Guitarist here. I would choose Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, and then cry profusely when the hour was up.

I’d drop my guitar, pick up the bass, get my talent level up about 10000% and Jam with Derek Trucks or Joe Bonamassa.

Frank Zappa. No question. When he died I was crushed, as my dream of playing with him was never going to happen, no matter how good I got.

I’m glad you find his style interesting. He is a Nigerian based in Europe. I follow his music ever since his first appearence 22 years ago (I was in HS back home).

Truly gifted guy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHjriVXt7hI

Not that it means anything but in the above video it`s the guitar he helped design (I have a feeling you would be interested) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCtNEomSqbg

Can whatever magic brought this epic jam session into being also infuse me with the ability to play an instrument? Otherwise, I’d just be listening.

And I’d probably pick Lynyrd Skynyrd–original lineup, with Ronnie on vocals. But I get to rock the guitar for the Free Bird riff…

Joe Satriani.
