oh, and so that wasnt a complete hijack, I pee in the shower. It is so nice and warm and wet. I just can’t NOT pee. ---

One more vote for pissing in the shower, and also for brushing teeth in there. Since the piss comes first, not only do you have all the soap, shampoo, and toothpaste running down after it, but you also have all the rest of the body’s dirt too. So if any residue gets left in there, it’s more likely to come from the ass or mouth\* than the inside of the bladder. \*The mouth is a very dirty place. ---

It’s not as if we’re turning off the shower and peeing at the drain, leaving a big puddle of urine in the tub. Most of the time you pee right in the beginning of the shower, and you get 2-10 minutes worth of shower water flushing it away. How filthy is the inside of your shoe? And you’re sticking your foot in that for how long per day? Getting splashed by a [fairly sterile](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_220.html) liquid and then immediately washing your foot in a continually replenishing supply of water doesn’t sound that bad, does it? ---

I can offer a good reason for the females to try it…and only vivalostwages came near. Suppose, just hypothetically, said females go places where it would be convenient to be able to pee standing, like for instance on long backpack trips, to pick a random possibility. It is possible, if I am to believe what I read on the net, for females to pee standing. Well, ya gotta practice somewhere, don’t ya? Better she don’t try to wing it and pee on her jeans with the hiking club waiting just on the other side of that big rock. Preferably, try it somewhere you don’t have to mop the floor or take a shower afterward, anyway, because it ran down your leg. And, semi-demi-pervert I am, I actually find the idea kind of erotic. ---

I never pee in the shower. Disgusting habit. If I’m caught short while showering, I find if I pull the shower curtain back a little, and aim right, I can just about hit the sink. 😃 ---

I’m a female, and I go in the shower. As others have said, it’s not as though the urine isn’t being washed away. I take showers that last at least 20 minutes, and I usually go right away. With all the shampoo and soap and water, that tub is getting thoroughly rinsed out. I go in other peoples’ showers and in dorm showers, too (assuming good drainage and total privacy in the shower room). Since no one ever notices–and no mysterious plagues have cropped up amongst other folks using these showers, I’m assuming it’s not worth worrying about. ---

When I was little, my father taught me to pee in the bathtub. Not while you are in it of course, just standing above it whenever you would normally use the toilet. His reasoning was that the toilet bowl was too hard to hit with any consistency and it was just better to have a big target. When you think about it, a bathtub is almost the same as the troughs they have in stadiums and bars. Just be polite and run some water after you are done. ---

**aryk29** , if the toilet is not usable, what about the great out of doors? My son once dropped pants and peed on the side walk, in front of a fairly busy street. He was only 3 at the time and very determined he was not going to pee his pants. ---

In a recent Playboy issue, they said that you should not urinate in the shower, if someone else uses it and objects. Personally, I don’t understand why you would wait until you get in the shower, since using the toilet is something to take up the time waiting for the hot water. 😕 ---
