I’m glad that the original poster now realizes how very wrong it was to slap the woman. However, I think that calling anyone you claim to have loved a “dumb cow” shows that you still have a lot more work to do before you will be ready to have a healthy, adult relaitonship with anyone. I really do hope that you look into getting some counseling to help you learn how to express anger in a healthier way. ---

A female bully I knew back in elementary school yanked my hair, punched me, poked me, stomped on my feet, and shoved me, and only stopped when I gave her a good hard slap in the face. Now, we shouldn’t have been hitting each other in the first place, and violence is wrong, but someone uses violence against you, repeatedly, and the only way to get them to stop is to defend yourself–I don’t see that as wrong. As a post-modern twenty-first-century society, I think we deplore the violence men commit against women much more (and much more publically, and loudly) than the violence women commit against men because historically men have been allowed to get away with it–so to speak–and we’ve recognizing now how unfair that is. But it certainly doesn’t excuse not talking about women hitting men, and it doesn’t make that any more right. Wherefore (in my boring tl;dr way), chill. You’re still a Good Egg. 🙂 ---

Before you go looking for a prostitute, you should know something. A lot of women would be leery of sleeping with someone who has slept with a prostitute in the past. I know it would be a dealbreaker for me, as it would be for some of the people who posted in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=399869). I don’t think there are many women who are going to view “having been with a prostitute” as a plus in a potential partner… ---

For an interesting comparison and contrast, read the thread created the day Saddam was hung, and see how many ppl were sorry for him. Not saying I in **any** way approve of what you did (I’ve never had the impulse to do this, and I’m ever so glad for that), but it’s interesting to note slapping someone in impulsive anger =pariah, killing millions of ppl =old man to feel sorry for. I think people were uneasy about the manner in which the execution was conducted, and what it means for U.S. (and global) foreign policy, and what’s going to happen next in Iraq–deeply uneasy, and worried, and not too certain about how effective the execution really was–but I don’t think anybody on the board’s all that sad Saddam died. ---

I had a bad experience on a board elsewhere many years ago, so I tend to lurk rather than post these days. I mostly hang out in Cafe Society.
