I agree. You were in a situation that made you uncomfortable and you got out of it–you made the right judgment call. The adults who tried to cover their own asses by picking on you made the wrong judgment call.

Fortunately, I was never in that situation. My father was from the back hills of Pennsylvania, born in 1911, and not only made his own whiskey and brandy, had run booze during Prohibition. As far as he was concerned, soft drink was bad for you, so we drank beer growing up. We were also allowed to drink wine, brandy and whiskey. The only rules were 1) we didn’t drink away from home and 2) we didn’t give alcohol to any of our friends. As a consequence, all the maneuvering in high school to get hold of some alcohol seemed pointless and boring to me. 😛

Totally offtopic, but I just read your sig, **Squish** , and I just watched that movie last night for the first time in…well, probably a good 10-15 years. Odd how it pops up twice in two days 🙂

Pshaw.

I started imbibing alcohol around the age of 14. I have been drunk few enough times that I can count them on both hands. When I was underaged and caught drinking, I fessed up. I feel no need to lie about something so darned trivial. Got grounded, yes, but I have my own value set and not lying is one of those. Don’t do something you won’t take responsibility for.

Both the kids and the adults deserve the :wally
You don’t.

Don’t kick yourself for doing what you thought was right. The adults, ( and I use this term loosely), were wrong to treat you the way they did.

With that out of the way.

I myself would have asked for a cold one. I drank around many bonfires. I " slept" in a few fields. Nothing like waking up to new mown hay stuck to you, while you have a hangover.
