I’m really hoping my mom doesn’t see a trailer or even a commercial with Gandalf in it. She was never really into this sort of thing before, but she saw and loved the movie. She considered Gandalf’s death to be a tissue-moment, her remark was something like “I thought it was just going to be an action movie, I didn’t know I should have brought Kleenex.” So of course I didnt’ tell her anything about how Gandalf may or may not exist, or in what form, in the sequel. I thought she might get really happy when she saw him again, and I didn’t want to spoil that. Even my kid brother, a real fantasy-genre-nerd, avoided spoiling it. Since she goes to very few movies, she can probably avoid the theatrical trailer. If Gandalf appears in the TV spots, I’ll be disappointed. ---

Finally, about 2 AM, they hauled out a bunch of US Army uniforms and told us to suit up for our shots. I was too fat to fit in ANY of the uniforms!☹ And I was the only American. So if you ever see Yongari, keep in mind that NONE of the US Army people in the background during the gripping space center scene are actually American! The only American there was pouting off-stage… [sup]and oogling the costume girl, too![/sup] ---

Ha!, I saw Yonggary at its Seoul premiere! Heck, I didn’t think any of the leads were Americans, the dialogue was so badly recorded. (For US Dopers, Yonggary/Yongari is available on VHS and DVD as “Reptilian”–it really is a godawful movie.) ---

**Splutter** , were you, then, at that big stadium (football? rugby?) in New Zealand when Peter Jackson recorded the whole lot screaming out orc war-cries? I wish I had seen and heard that! It must have been a hoot. The recording, I’m assuming, must be intended for the Helm’s Deep scene. “. . . and the men of the Mark amazed looked out, as it seemed to them, upon a great field of dark corn, tossed by a tempest of war, and every ear glinted with barbed light.” That’s a big buttload of orcs. ---
