A simple pleasure. Any cheese I want anywhere I want. I like cheese. I think I could really get into the fancier cheeses but they get a bit pricey (but not snob level cheeses). ---

A modest-sized yet superbly finished home in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland. I don’t need a mansion, but I’ve always wanted a home with an integrated computer a la Star Trek to tell me what bills I have and can pay them with a word, be a pre-programmed electronic consierge, control the stereo, etc. And I can be in any number of beautiful European cities after a few hours on a train and a few on a plane. ---

I had a sailboat before my baby came along but we sold it so my choice would be another sailboat but a new one. More specifically a Valiant 40 or 50 with a centre cockpit and if I had to comprimise with my husband he could choose the other additions. And then I’d be a liveaboard and go cruising for a few years and raise our daughter boat schooling. It may be a realistic dream to go cruising one day when we buy another sailboat. ---

I’d want a car. I don’t care what kind as long as it gets me form point A to point B without breaking down. To me a car’s a luxury, but I guess not to everyone ---

Flitting about from airport to airport sounds somewhat interesting. Floating about in a teak tub might be nice. But I’d like an upgraded-to-modern-technology set of Saturn rockets, please. I trust they’ll have all the accouterments (e.g., rover, space suits), adequate support staff, and luxury launch facilities. If continual replacement of wear items and other single-use bits of the Saturns are going to be too much and outside the scope of the OP’s budget, then I’ll settle for a collection of vehicles supported by the ISS, as long as the set includes the necessary vehicles for safely transporting my fellow revelers back and forth to the moon. So, whose up for some cocktails at Rhythmdvl’s Mare Imbrium Cafe? ---

Either an upgraded version of the LHC (I’m sure better technology has become available since the LHC was planned) or a custom built home. The custom built home would be extremely high-tech but at the same time natural looking (as in trees, not cave). The house would include the most advanced research in how aesthetics influence mood and concentration, and would have the most advanced scientific and engineering labs for their size found anywhere in the world. Actually, just give me a modern mad scientist castle situated in Silicon Valley. I’m pretty sure I’m stretching the meaning of “luxury item” here. ---

My first thought was a really nice stocked wine cellar, but I’m not sure that fits into the rules. Does it get refilled when I work my way through it? That’s a luxury item, definitely. If I had to be more practical, I with the person who said really good health care. Second-level practical luxury would be enough assets to retire on when I’m older so I don’t have to worry about working my ass off now to fund my SEP. Though the airplane is tempting… very tempting. I just don’t know that I’d use it enough on a day-to-day basis. The wine, on the other hand, would definitely get used, many times a week if not every day. I like the cheese idea, too. Can I have both wine & cheese? ---

I checked Zillow after posting the link and the house on the corner at the far west end is selling for 2 mil for a 2000 sqft house with less then an 1/8 of an acre and that’s in the current housing market. ---
