I’d take her to [Willow Tree Cafe](https://hollerbachs.com/wtc/) on a Friday or Saturday night. We’d listen to the live band, watch people drink Das Boot (a 2-3 litre of beer that must be drunk standing up, passed around the table, until gone, and whoever finishes it pays for it) and completely pig out. Best thing, I’d have money left over. I hosted my husband’s 50th birthday dinner with 16 people, catered menu, for about $500. That included a couple of drink tickets for each adult. ---

Hunan Manor, a Chinese place with great food and ambience about ten minutes away. USA Today once named it one of the 10 best place to celebrate Chinese New Year. I happened to be there the day that issue came out. Someone at the table next to me congratulated the waiter, who hadn’t heard about it. He brought out the manager to look at the article. Suddenly, the waiter was sent out to find and buy 100 copies of the issue. ---

I would ask them what they’re favorite restaurant was in Italy and then we’d fly over there on their private jet, swing by Clooney’s place to pick him up and then go have dinner. Then go back to Clooneys and party the night away. ---

There isn’t much worth that much around here worth the high prices, maybe the Nordic Lodge for a $95 a person seafood buffet if they’re a big eater and seafood lover. Otherwise a couple of mid to high end steak houses at a casino or someplace in Boston. Be a lot easier and a better time to just cook up a storm here at home based on what kind of food they like. You don’t have to spend the $1,000, just give a huge tip. 😉 I set such a high figure just in case some Doper has very extravagant tastes that would be hard to fulfill on a $200 or $400 budget. ---

I’d take Anthony Bourdain to Tito’s Tacos in LA. we’d each have a taco, then I’d spend the rest of the $1000 buying tacos for all the homeless and street people around. ---

There is not one restaurant within 100 miles of me that would charge $1,000 for two people to eat every day for a month. I’d take Uma Thurman to Cathy’s, in Port OConnor, Texas, where locals take their family for local gulf seafood. ---
