First and foremost would be the animals. (1 dog, 4 snakes, 1 bearded dragon, 1 scorpion and 4 ferrets)
Hubby of course. My teddy bear from when I was a baby. As much clothes that I could fit in a garbage bag or two. Pictures of my family. I have duplicates of the pics at my grandfathers, but I’d still want them.
IF we had time, we’d grab the cd’s, dvd’s, movies and PS2 stuff.
My purse and hubby’s wallet. That’s about it. OH!! A glass statue that was my grandfather’s.
My choices are harder because I live in an apartment building, on a high floor. One trip up and down takes 5 minutes, minimum. So realistically I have, at most, three trips, giving myself 10 minutes of packing and searching, before I have to get the hell out of there.
TRIP 1: Cats. This would take a good 10 minutes, as we have three. Living things can’t be replaced. The fish, unfortunately, are probably doomed. On Trip 1 I would also grab my passport and make sure I have my wallet, as would Mrs. RickJay.
TRIP 2: Computer under one arm, some framed pictures under the other.
TRIP 3: Some clothes just to get by. And I hop in the car and drive away.
That’s it. The other stuff can burn, baby. Furniture, electronics, most of my clothes, who cares? That’s why I have insurance. I don’t have any really valuable or irreplaceable stuff, and I just don’t feel much attachment to any of my possessions. As long as I have my wallet it can all be replaced. Actually, I could probably get it all replaced without my wallet, it would just be more of a hassle. Since I drove away in my car, I have the means to get around, so we’ll be fine.
One thing I have very few of is pictures. I simply don’t get off on having photos. Couldn’t care less. This may change when RickJays Jr. enter the scene, but I have almost no photos to save, except for three framed photos. As long as Mrs. RickJay and I are okay and the cats are loaded up, it really wouldn’t bother me all that much.
My husband and kids would be first of course and I’d have to put the kids’ fish in a container of some sort so he could come along too.
We have 4-5 suitcases so I’d pack up clothes for all of us in those.
Toiletries in my two big overnight bags and I’d put towels in trash bags.
I’d take the kids baby books and all our photo albums and all our important papers that are in the file drawer.
Most of the big stuff we’d have to put in the back of the truck so I’d load up the antique sewing maching that my grandma gave me.
Once all that was loaded in the truck I’d go through and pack the kids blankets and pillows so they could have something familiar to sleep with/on… maybe make it less traumatic for them. I’d also take all our DVDs and our DVD player if possible. I’d also have the pictures/video of everything in the house/garage so we could file an insurance claim. Since everything is insured I wouldn’t be too upset about losing the couches and beds and stuff but I’d be very upset at losing my piano!!!
PC’s all 3 of them - leave monitors and and all that crap behind, but the data is just too much to lose, and I am not gonna fart around trying to get the hardrives out
My folder of PC cd’s,
my Mountian bike on the roofrack
bag of my newer clothes and toiletries for a week or two
my password - been here on an immigrant visa it would be really crappy to lose that, all my cards and whatnot are in my fannypack, which If I leave is on me anyway -
a handful of books - and my bicycle helmet and stuff
all that is about what I could get into my car - in about 40 minutes -
then I am gone -
figure if I get out of town in less than an hour I will beat the rush
