# You have to admire Gary Trudeau of "Doonesbury" as a scripter

Jeff the slacker son has been around [Doonesbury](http://www.doonesbury.com/strip)a while and has many adventures, but that it would ultimately [lead to this](http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/12/19500203.jpg/) is still pretty amusing.

One of my favorite bit of scripting for the strip was the time you saw Uncle Duke in front of a firing squad (he was in Iran during the hostage crisis). Then absolutely no mention of him for a year or two.

Finally, one strip had the Iranians releasing a prisoner known as “the bald spy.” No name, but everyone reading the strip knew who it was.
