# You it really kill you to be ready to talk to me when you call?

Over and over it happens. A computer calls, and then waits for me to answer before it puts another person on the line.
Phone rings: ring.ring.ring.
Me, in a quite pleasant voice: Hello?
Computer switching call to a person: click.clk.(sounds of chatter in the background)some silence.click.clk.
Unfortunate schmuck who has to work tele-sales: Hello!?!
Me, waiting 3-4 seconds: Where were you? I answer the phone and no one’s there. What were you doing?
USWHTWT-S: Uhhhh. So? You wanna buy some replacement windows?
Me: No, thanks. (Hang up)
I know tele-marketing is all about the numbers. Get the most calls you can to as many people as possible. Sell. Sell. Sell. And if you can catch your suckers at dinner or putting their kids to bed, bonus for you.
But if you’re going to call me up, at least be on the phone when I answer. So I can say “no” right away, and save us all time.

What the Hell is that post title? “You it really kill you…”. It’s supposed to be “WOULD it really kill you…”.
Must be some computer glitch or something.
Oh well.
The thread’ll be dead soon, and my mortifying embarrassment will be gone with it.

I always just answer, and say “we don’t take calls from your kind!!!” and then I hang up. They hate it a lot, and the more you can chew them out for doing their job, the better it works…
Oh yeah, BTW…I think this thread, like you said, is on it’s way to it’s grave…

If I don’t hear something in the first second or two from an unknown caller, I hang up. Of course, I usually screen my calls, so I rarely need to do that.

Ask them how much they are charging for the windows.
Explain that you have a lot of windows already, and then offer -them- windows at half of their price.
That will keep them confused for a while…
