You know, we should chat about global warming

I really, really, hate to say this, but FXM was a much better global warming troll than doorhinge. Doorhinge is not just stupid, he’s boring.

FXM is a true master at his craft.

I think you’ll find it’s actually entitled An Inconvenient Truth. The ability to control one’s bladder is not relevant.

TMYK!

Can we bring back FX, pretty please?

This mindless monkeynuts douchebag is actually making him look like a Rhodes Scholar by comparison.

I think you’ve been accidentally taken in by what passes as “wit” with doorhinge. That was a deliberate attempt to be, I don’t know, funny? Insulting? Devastatingly satirical so as to rival Swift or Wilde?

Maybe he though it was a pisser.

Oh no, I’m sure it was a simple mistake. Or possibly an interesting autocorrect error.

I can believe that “incontinent” comes up a lot in doorhinge’s correspondence.

Quote:
The conference concluded that, at the level of 550 ppm, it was likely that 2 °C would be exceeded, according to the projections of more recent climate models. Stabilising greenhouse gas concentrations at 450 ppm would only result in a 50% likelihood of limiting global warming to 2 °C, and that it would be necessary to achieve stabilisation below 400 ppm to give a relatively high certainty of not exceeding 2 °C.[23]

If 0.000400 is already too high, wouldn’t that be the overdose number? Now you’re suggesting a limit of 0.000450 because that’s the new overdose number? What ever happened to all of the dire consequences that the world was facing if the number exceeded 0.000350 ??? Were they just kidding back then? Were they crying wolf?

According to the quote from your link, at 0.000550 it’s assumed likely that 2 °C would be exceeded. Doesn’t that make 0.000550 the overdose number?

Al Gore’s been pissing on your back and telling you it’s raining.

Case in point.

The number refers to the risk of going over 2 degrees, with what is happening already with the loss of cap ice on Arctic circle (where you don’t know where Greenland is located) demonstrated already that there is a problem were predicted effects are already taking place.

But we know that you deny that ice cap loss issue so, you are only JAQing off.

[snip]

There was just nonsense in the rest, so one can comment about this item (that repeats the same nonsense):

What this shows to all is that you do not have a clue about risk and probability. Going over 400 PPM (and your insistence on posting only decimals is a boiler plate denier tactic) already has caused an acceleration of the ice loss, and more extreme weather in the form of more intense droughts and in other regions, increased precipitation in shorter amounts of time. The probability that we will see an increase of 2 degrees has increased, the point of keeping it from going up is to reduce the chances that we will overshot the 2 degree mark.

Indeed, 550 PPM does guaranty that it will be too late do prevent the high like hood of going over 2 degrees as there is a lag in the rise of the PPM increase and the rise of the temperatures that will cause.

Arriving to 400, the system is possible to not get over 2 degrees yet, but the probability increases, if we use the drug analogy an addict can still go trough life but eventually the use of the drug will appear in the form of progressive damage to lungs or circulatory system.

At 400 PPM the earth will warm more than we have observed already, but we can manage. That is if we have leaders that do prepare, having leaders that deny that there is a problem only means that more costs will happen to deal with the issue. Not to mention the huge loss of jobs just by the loss of territory and cities that will be the result of going over 400 on the way to 550. But I digress.

Since we’re not doing a concerted effort yet in the USA and other places it is likely that we will reach 450 in a few decades, meaning that instead of going though life with some issues now the addict will see liver damage and other more serious things.

Arriving to 550 we are talking sudden death, but before that, going out of the metaphor, we are bound to see more refugees as a result of unrest caused also by the changes in climate, wars over water resources, with nuclear powers affected by it.

I would rather demand that the industry responsible insured themselves and pay ahead of time to accelerate change so as to keep the CO2 increase (that will already still cause an crease in temperature, the point is to prevent it from going higher to cause more problems) at manageable levels.

Not to the best of my knowledge. I’ve never met the man, and I’d like to think I’d know if he were urinating on me.

Sorry, you lost me there. Was it a metaphor?

GIGObuster, you’re fighting the good fight and I love you for it, but what the fuck? Save it for someone that matters. The guy is a garden-variety troll. He’s not even bothering to bring facts to the table. At least Fuxsie had data - completely cherry-picked and/or misinterpreted, but data. This guy has nothing. You’re not going to get through to him, and there are already plenty of rebuttals in the thread for any open-minded but uneducated souls who wander in.

We need you fresh and rested for the real AGW discussions. Forget this one. Let doorknob’s “contributions” just sit there like the steaming turds they are.

Now, this is the laboratory-pure hard stuff!

The ones that matter are other readers, and myself too. Believe it or not, I continue to learn this way. Beats having to spent money to go to college when in the quest for good information (and years of this has showed me that the search of good information is also an ability that has to be trained) I find even more good sources for the future fights.

I see the Nordic fairy tale dweller of bridges as good sparring partners.

Is it appropriate to go so far as to say that deniers’ attempts at countering the science is akin to young-earth-creationists’ pseudo-science?

He’s not a sparring partner, he’s just a stumblebum, a palooka, a tomato can, a patsy, a stiff, a glass joe. He’s got nothin’. You’re just shadow boxing.

Yes.

And yes. I see your point, but shadow boxing also helps in the training. Not going to hang around much here though as a slightly better palooka has showed up in GD.

I didn’t know that a cause’s worthiness or truth was so utterly dependent on what you thought of its most famous advocate.
