You know what? I am tired as heck of everyone hating on Back to the Future III

How much more awesome it might have been if Ronald Reagan had played the Mayor of 1885 Hill Valley, as he was apparently seriously considered.

I agree. I think III is the best one.

I love when Marty and Doc switch lines:

**Marty: Great Scott!

Doc: I know, this is getting heavy!**

When the sequels first came out, it was Part II that people didn’t like (though I thought it was great). When Part III appeared, everyone loved it, as it was a fun take on the old west. As time has gone on, the hate for Part II has disappeared, because the trilogy as a whole stands up really well, and is a fun ride from beginning to end.

Part II used to be my favourite, but now I prefer Part III. It has a nicer pace to it, and some sweeter moments. The train sequence is a tad too long, and the urgency is no longer necessary now that Buford has been defeated, but otherwise I like it lots.

Have we established whether anyone even hates on this movie in the first place?

False premise or no?

Really? I know quite a few people who dislike Part II, at least the first half of it. And honestly, when I watch it, I skip past the “future” part of it and go straight for the return to Bizarro 1985. I love the trilogy as a whole, but the first half of part II is kind of a drag.

Awesome lines from Part III:

**Patron (About Doc): “How much has he had to drink?”

Bartender: “None… he’s just been holding that one all night.”**

The problem with Marty and jennifer’s kids is that due to his accident racing with needles Marty had given up on life and Marty Jr. was turning out to be George McFly II. They originally went back to stop Marty II from joining Griff’s gang in some hiest that Marty Jr. would end up taking the fall for. That gets changed when the gang chases Marty 1 around the square again and gets busted for crashing into the court house. In the process of stopping that Marty caused the problems with Biff getting ahold of the sports almanac and the DeLorean.

yes. Yes I have seen these too many times. Why?

I never liked it, but then I’m really not into the Old West. I loved Part II–partly for all the cool meta stuff but also because I thought that their vision of what the “future” would look like was really funny. Overall, I’m not sure which I prefer, one or two. Definitely not three, though.

Death of Rats, I don’t think he was confused about that. Just that he was saying that the problem was painfully contrived. I mean, it is sort of lame. Is the kid suddenly going to man up now? I mean…why this one tiny little incident?

BTTF III was one of the first movies I saw at the theater (it’s hard to believe that it’s coming up on its 20th anniversary). I thought it was friggin’ awesome and rated it as my favorite movie ever. Today I prefer BTTF I, but III still hold up pretty well. Yeah the ending is kind of lame, but as others have mentioned it has a good, nicely paced story, some great lines and the awesome train sequence.
As for II, there are too many inconsistencies and in retrospect the future tech is way campy. And as others have mentioned the Elisabeth Shue character and the Marty’s kids storyline just seemed shoehorned in. It’s still an entertaining movie, but lacks the charisma and clever plotting of the original.
