its always happened that way thats why you can click the "remeber me " button so youre never signed out … but its been longer than 10 minutes in the past … ---

Nope. Win10, Edge Chromium Beta. Never happened to me before on any browser or version of Windows, nor in Android. Little more info might help us diagnose. OS, browser, etc. ---

The two most common causes of this are a cookie problem of some sort, or using http instead of https. Make sure you aren’t using some sort of cookie cleaner that is going to wipe out the SDMB cookies, and check to make sure that whatever bookmark brings you here is using https and not http. ---

As I’ve said before I only have this issue if I don’t post in say the first ten minutes. Once I have something to say (like this) I am golden until I actually log out at the end of a session. (I’m one of those odd ducks who actually does log out) ---

I do wonder if Chrome is not at least an unindicted co-conspirator in this; lately I’ve been having some difficulties with Chrome, including a weird thing where I open a page and click on a link … the page opens. I click on a link in THAT page and I get jerked back to the FIRST page. The browser goes backward instead of forward. Never seen that before. WTH? Monty, are you accessing the site via a bookmark? As ECG said, make sure that bookmark or link is HTTPS and not just http. Or “boards.straightdope.” Jenny your humble TubaDiva Administrator ---

I haven’t had any problems with getting logged out, but that post inspired me to finally change my bookmark. ---

Chrome was doing that to me. Very frustrating. I switched over to IE and Firefox and haven’t had a problem with either
