WAAAAHHH!! I didn’t make the list!!! Not quite the same, but my time in #straightdope has gotten me thinking about wanting to SAY things like “/me is hungry” and just letting the…air?..fill in the appropriate username! When you argue with a prof over the origin of “OK” and send him the straightdope article the next day! When you type an email and put people’s name in bold (if you’re using a program that allows it) ---

Not cause I don’t love you, or remember you… It was a wierd exercise in free associtation. Much of the list is just strings of "This name or person makes causes me to think of this other name or person…"It was interesting to look back and see which names came up. A lot of posters that everybody knows aren’t on there. So don’t feel bad. I mean, heck, Cecil didn’t come up till #32. 🙂 ---

You’ve signed more than 3 checks using your username. Your dog left you for some dude with a Frisbee… 3 days later you notice that your girlfriend must have tagged along! A friend asks you how things are going on the Straight Dope. You wonder how you come across to other dopers. You find yourself trying to post a reply to an item on a news page. You find a vanity search on Straight Dope much more interesting than one on Google. When the server goes down for maintenance at 2:59 AM you find something interesting to pass the time until 3:59 AM. ---

When you do at least two vanity searches a day. (Note to admins: I do them in the wee hours of the morning and late at night.) When you go to the computer lab between classes to check some threads. When most of your entire social life revolves around Dopefests. When you invoke Godwin’s Law in an argument with your spouse.
