Fox News reported that although the insult “fruitcake” was in the Congressional Record, the Record did not include another homophobic insult Pete Stark used. Fox delicately said that that the last half of the word was “sucker.” Did you hear anything like this on C-SPAN?
Nope. But I wasn’t watching the actual pension hearing, I was watching the resolution condemning the removal debate. The Reps that were involved only mentioned Starks fruitcake comments when quoting what happened. Although it’s possible that they would have not mentioned the other insults during the debate, I doubt it. They wouldn’t have actually said “cocksucker” (which is what I am assuming Fox was implying) they probably would have mentioned “other insults.” I didn’t notice them mentioning other insults, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t.
I’d like to know where Fox got their information. Not that I think they would make shit up or anything…
Yo, Pete!
You are MY FUCKING REPRESENTATIVE! Grow the fuck up, man! You’ve been in office since before I could vote, don’t shit on me now goddammit!
Ahem, what am I, Attila the Hun?
That opinion seems to be spreading…
Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing.
This was pointed out earlier, but worth repeating. This is a common stall tactic used by both parties. If you’ve ever read a bill, which I suspect you have, you know that there is a lot of worthless filler and formality that takes time to trudge through if you were to read it word for word. By using this tactic, the Dems were allowing themselves time to get to the meaty points of the bill and discuss them in private. This would not have been needed if the changes made to the bill had been made openly.
I see no need for you to say “ostensibly” here, as if some conspiracy were afoot. That is the reason Stark stayed behind. A unanimous vote is required to bypass the reading and call for a vote. By leaving someone behind, the Dems assured themselves that a vote couldn’t happen. Just another step in the political dance that happens every single day on the hill.
How were the Dems to know this? As has been pointed out repeatedly, the Pubs made changes without the Dems present.
Fortney H. “Pete” Stark is a hothead, agreed. Calling the police was also a hothead move. I think we can all agree that alot of buttheads were involved here. Which is 24/7/365 for the hill. You seem to forgive the Pubs parliamentary maneuvering while condeming the Dems parliamentary maneuvering. I, for one, wouldn’t mind seeing several of those involved get a boot to the ass and get away from the partison bickering. In my dreamworld I guess.
