Whoa, snopes is fast, there is already an addition reporting the sighting of the Hungarian report. The implication is that until something is confirmed, this is just a retelling of the rumor. ---

I might have expected that from Annanova, but not Reuters. ---

I’m pretty fluent in Hungarian, although I sometimes have trouble reading the extra fanciful language used in newspaper articles. It seems to pretty much be relating the same unlikely story as the english version. Here’s a translation of the bolded part at the beginning. **The wife of a diplomat buries him in rum.** Workers renewing the house of a szegedi family were taking home by the liter the good-tasting rum in the 300 liter cask. When the last drop ran out, they wanted to move the cask out of the way but something was still rattling/sloshing inside. They opened the cask, and a shriveled up corpse fell out. ---

I don’t think you should feel bad about it; these latest posts add an actual family name to the story, which is quite unusual for an UL, but even if it is bogus, it still ended up passing through a major, serious new organisation, so no wonder it looked legit. ---
