Because agreements, between persons of integrity, have a value of their own. If I agree with a friend that, because we are both Star Wars fans, neither of us will see a new Star Wars movie until we can see it together, that’s not a big thing. I could easily abandon such a plan. But if I discovered that my friend had snuck off to see Phantom Menace before I did, I’d be upset – not at the fact that he saw the movie, but at the breach of our agreement. If he had first said, “Look - I want to see the movie, so our deal is off,” then I’d be fine with it. Why is this such a tough concept? - Rick ---

It is a poorly veiled statement that you think Mighty-Girl is a slut that doesn’t deserve more than a partner that lies to her. Did everyone else get the same vibe from his statement? Also…he’s using code words like ‘good moral character’ and ‘virtuous man’. What constitutes a good moral character to HIM is not necessarily what constitutues a good moral character to another person. It’s a subjective term, but he seems to be using as an absolute? It’s not an argument that can be properly defined to make any sense in this situation.
