Mostly I skip when I REALLY DON’T want to go to class. There have been times I just went to lunch or something. There were a couple of times not long after I met my now-ex that I was in such a state of pink-cloud-fluffiness that I just sort of didn’t go. I also didn’t do much of anything else productive for a couple of months there. Dang, that was fun. Oh, and the past two years I had to skip a day of classes to go to DragonCon. 🙂 Yep, skipping class to go to a convention. I’m such a geek. ---

I, uh, skipped once because my car broke down and I needed to take it to a mechanic. Um…er…that’s it. My school has a 4 absenses only policy for each class, and I just hate to use them all up, because hey, what if I really need them at some point? It’s been 2 years, and I haven’t yet (except for the car incident)… Of course, in high school I had over 100 cuts in one year. My mom called and excused them all and I was pulling straight As, so nobody cared or noticed… ---

Show up the first day, get the syllabus and exam schedule, sign up for the lecture note service, then stay at home and study the material at my own pace, while going to necessary labs. Hmm… A slight twist: I GO to class in order to catch up with friends. I never pay a jot of attention to what the lecturer is saying but its a good chance to socialise. ---

I’ve been in school for a very, very long time, and have skipped bunches of classes. My personal favorite, though… I skipped two days of class the beginning of my third year of undergrad to go to New Jersey to have sex with a guy I’d had a crush on for _ages_. He showed up at my dorm room, asked me what I was doing two days hence, and then asked if I could be in NJ. Paid for the tixs and everything (in case you’re wondering, he’d graduated that May and both of us had worked on campus that summer; he was flying back home and had an overnight layover in Newark). I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Round-trip tix to NJ: $60. Two days of missed classes: $150. Fifteen straight hours of mind-blowing sex: Priceless. ---

I’ve rarely skipped class. Occasionaly in the winter I’d miss my 8:00am lectures cuz I sure as hell didn’t want to get up and trudge off to school in freezing temperatures and complete darkness. I skipped an econ class once to play LaserQuest though. ---

I’ve skipped class for a good reason a couple of times (going to protests, finishing more important assignments), but usually it’s because I was tired. ---

_re: the hijack_ - I got a BA last May, will be going back for a second bachelor’s this fall that’ll be completed in 2 years, and then do a Master’s in one year. I’d forgotten about my awful calc class from freshman year. I had a really messed up schedule, so my Tuesdays and Thursdays were calc from 8:20a to 9:40a, and then my next class wasn’t until 5:30 pm. I couldn’t learn a DAMNED thing in that class anyway so I took to skipping it altogether and just sleeping in late. I’d use those days to do laundry or paint my nails. Good times! ---

In college, about half a dozen of us skipped class once to go to a matinee showing of Disney’s PETER PAN. ---

I used to skip my 1:00 regularly so I could watch _As The World Turns_. But I had a good reason. It was the first daytime soap with an openly gay character. So yes, I was the college cliche, skipping class to watch a soap opera, and not even the _trendy_ soap opera (which at the time was _Days Of Our Lives_). I used to skip after-school chem bio in high school so I could watch _One Life To Live_ which was on right before _General Hospital_ which I simply could not miss under pain of death. ---

Groundhog Day! The best excuse to skip anything. I skipped many classes in college because of Groundhog Day celebrations and either not getting back in time or wanting to sleep after the drive. Of course, I also missed class for more common reasons–sleep, party, didn’t want to go, etc. ---

My sophmore year I woke up 30 minutes into my first microeconomics test, which was at 2:30. I hauled ass and got there about 5 minutes later. I ran up to the prof and told him what happened. He stared at me like I was some kind of retard for a minute, and said that he would let me add the weight of the first test to the final. I am not really a slacker, it was a month into the semester and that class and the other I slept through before it were the first classes I had missed all semester. What’s worse, is that after that semester I decided to major in econ, and that prof. was my advisor. ---

Well, I didn’t exactly skip class this one time, but it was a really stupid reason to be late for class: “The Price is Right” was showing “Cliffhanger,” the game with the little yodeling mountain climber, and I simply couldn’t miss it. ---

Oh! I just remmebered! One time I did ditch astronomy because he didn’t have an attendence policy, and I knew we weren’t going to go ovre anything important. Plus it was a Friday. I wanted to go home. Thta night I went to an art showing on campus. And ran into my professor. He said “How are you?” No trace of sarcasm or anger. He is a very nice guy. I was like “Um embarassed.” He asked me why. “Because I skipped class and yet…here we are!” He laughed it off and said “Yeah well, nobody showed up today.” Man, I love that guy.
